The Power of knowledge, jñāna śakti

In the non-dualistic Tantra Philosophy, it is said that there are two aspects to the power of knowledge. These are Jñāna which refers to the knowing of theoretical knowledge and vijñāna which is the actual experience of that theoretical knowledge. To truly imbibe full knowledge of anything these two aspects must be acknowledged and experienced.

The highest Truth in this philosophy is that:

"There is only one Consciousness"

Every thing that exists is a manifestation of this one Consciousness ... and I mean everything. In reading this   we have the theoretical knowledge of it. Every practice in yoga is designed to gain the actual experience of it moment to moment. Every pose, every breath, every moment of self awareness, every instruction we receive is to gradually gain this experiential knowledge.

It’s not enough to "know" you are Consciousness; you must move, love, enjoy, create, destroy, suffer, celebrate, and on and on; all as the pulsation of Consciousness itself.

There is an ocean metaphor that I like.

Jñāna is realizing that all waves are nothing but ocean, no separate entities exist.
Vijñāna is dancing as the waves, surfing them, interacting, splashing around; knowing all the while you are the ocean and not getting stuck in the forms.

We will be practicing this in class this week
